How the KBL Playoffs Work

KBL Playoff Race Guide

Top 6 of 10 teams make the playoffs

The KBL regular season has 10 teams playing 54 games each. The top 6 teams by win percentage advance to the playoffs. Basketball has no ties (overtime decides every game), so win percentage is simply wins divided by games played. The gap between 6th and 7th place decides who plays on, so the race for that cutoff line is usually the tightest in the final weeks.

How the bracket works

  1. Quarterfinals (6강 PO) - 3rd seed vs. 6th seed, and 4th seed vs. 5th seed, each a best-of-5 series. In both series the higher seed hosts Game 1 and has the overall home-court edge.
  2. Semifinals (4강 PO) - The 1st and 2nd seeds skip the quarterfinals entirely. The 4-vs-5 winner faces the 1 seed, and the 3-vs-6 winner faces the 2 seed, each in a best-of-5 series.
  3. Championship Series - The two semifinal winners play a best-of-7 series for the title.

Higher seeds face fewer rounds and more home games, so the race for seeds 1-2 — and for a spot in the top 6 at all — stays intense right up to the last games of the season.
