Reading Games Behind and Recent Form

KBL Playoff Race Guide

How games behind is calculated

Games behind between two teams is ((leader's wins - chaser's wins) + (chaser's losses - leader's losses)) / 2. When two teams play each other directly, the gap moves by a full game; against a third team, it moves by half a game. That's why head-to-head games between two teams fighting for the same spot matter more than an ordinary game against someone else.

Streaks and last-5 form

Team pages on this site show the current win/loss streak and the result of each of the last 5 games. A streak counts consecutive identical results working back from the most recent game; last-5 form is a quick read on which direction a team is trending. Both are small samples, so treat a hot or cold streak as a signal, not a verdict on a team's true strength.

Home and away splits

Some teams are far stronger at home than on the road, or vice versa. A lopsided split is worth checking against how many home vs. away games a team has left on its schedule.

A note of caution

Games behind and recent form only describe what has already happened — they don't guarantee what comes next. Injuries and schedule difficulty aren't reflected here, so use this alongside other sources.
